For me every shoot is inspired by the client. I have a little list or grouping of shots I’d like to try out each session but when the clients walk though the door and I see them, chat with them and get to know them a little is really when my creative juices start flowing. So you can only imagine when this blonde bombshell walked into my studio I was super excited! Karen and Kelly are one of the cutest and silliest couples I have ever worked with but they can turn on a sexy serious face in an second! Needless to say I took a million pictures and we went way over the “one hour” time frame! I can’t wait to photograph their little princess when she arrives! Yes, they are having a girl…Daddy is in so much trouble!
So it’s not very often I step outside the “box” aka studio. But my good friend Holly’s son is graduating this year and that meant senior pictures! We had a great time at one my favorite outdoor locations; Scorpion Gulch, in Phoenix. I get so nervous before an outdoor shoot, like serious anxiety but lucky for me Brandon is so handsome he made my job easy!
Congratulations Brandon, on not only graduating but receiving full academic and athletic scholarships next year! You’re a freaken rock star!

Back in July my sweet son Asher was diagnosed Autistic. For anyone in this same boat you know that means a whirlwind of emotions, paperwork, evaluations, stress and uncertainty. In the mix of all the chaos I was receiving friendly reminder emails every so often that I had signed up to do an autism walk with Autism Speaks and was supposed to be fundraising. Oh right…fundraising that would fit nicely into my already hectic schedule! Then I had an idea! And idea that I was so excited about! Halloween Mini’s for Autism! I love Halloween, like LOVE it! And what a better way to fund raise than take pictures of adorable kiddos in their costumes! It was a match made in heaven! A quick little post on facebook and the day of minis was 80% sold out! That post shared to my personal page and the Autism Speaks page and I was booked…solid! I even opened up sessions an hour earlier than I had planned! I was so overwhelmed with the incredible response! My little idea even sparked Erin Wallis of Erin Wallis Photography in Campbell River , Canada to do a similar fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis Canada! Now this may be a silly little pipe dream but imagine every Halloween more and more photographers did minis for charity! That my friends could be really cool! Here are some favorites from the minis plus some great snap shots from the Autism walk! Looking forward to next year!!
When my gorgeous friend Kathleen messaged me that she needed a few professional pictures for work and wanted to make a full shoot out of it I was super excited! We headed out to one of my favorite locations here in Phoenix, Scorpion Gulch. I didn’t factor in the sun would be setting behind the mountain so it turned into somewhat of a speed shoot but they all turned out gorgeous!
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I’m telling you these stunning mamas to be keep coming to see me and making my job so dang easy, I love it! Katie was so much fun in the studio! Constantly nervous that she was making a dorky face she’d pull away from a moment and look straight at me or her husband with a questioning face. Of course right before I was about to click the shutter and every time, cracking me up! I had to keep reassuring her that the sometimes awkward belly holding and long loving stares at her newly rounded bump were totally “normal” and beautiful and to just keep smiling! I hope once she sees how unmistakably beautiful and glowing she is in these images she’ll finally trust me!
Can you say bombshell!
The absolutely stunning Lisa came to visit me a few weeks ago all set for her maternity session with the most gorgeous outfits every! This girl knows how to feel sexy while pregnant let me tell you! I couldn’t wait to start shooting and we had so much fun! I even got to use the brand new belly wrap I made and it complimented her outfit perfectly! Love love love! I have to share all most all of them in this blog post because picking a few favorites was impossible!

One of the many perks of my job is meeting such interesting and unique people. Heather and Devon are world travelers and have been the most amazing places, it was so neat to get to know them! They are so excited about their little bundle and can’t wait for her to come! And I know I said in on Facebook but I will repeat…No I do not hire models! Heather is stunningly beautiful and was truly glowing. And had a scarf collection that would make anyone jealous! (Especially me!)

I could not be more excited for my gorgeous sister in-law and her hubby to have their first baby! Little Jake (middle name TBA – but if Justin has his way it will most definitely be Danger!) will be arriving very soon and I can’t wait to meet him! We have some very exciting things planned for his newborn pictures! Rachel and Justin are such a fun couple, I know they are going to be amazing parents!
“A mother’s joy begins when new life is stirring inside…
when a tiny heartbeat is heard for the very first time, and a playful kick reminds her that she is never alone.”
Can I just take a minute to say how much I love maternity portraits. It is one of the most incredible and beautiful times in a woman’s life and yet the day to day sacrifice of pregnancy can be less than glamorous sometimes. But having the opportunity to capture all the good in something. Truly capture the overwhelming joy, the anticipation, the beauty, the love. It is incredible.
I am often inspired by my clients and when Savita walked into my studio already looking beautiful in casual clothes and no make up I had to work hard to bridle my excitement! Then when she pulled this stunning Indian Sari out of her bag and explained that she wore it in her wedding my jaw hit the floor and there was no containing it! (Like a kid in a candy store!) The next half an hour while Tina was doing her makeup I was able to just hang out and chat with Savita & Yogesh, get to know them, laugh with them, hear their story. I am so excited they chose me to take this journey with them and can not wait to photograph their little angel once he arrives!
